How to find your model number

The first step to installing a printer without the CDs is knowing which model you’re using. Most of us are familiar with at least some of our printer’s features, so find where your Canon printer indicates its model number. For example, my Canon printers have their model numbers located under their lids. If your printer has nothing labelled on it at all, use Google to search for information about your specific model you can find it by doing an online search for Canon Mg3650.

How to download the drivers

Installing drivers is one of those things that we need to do, but nobody wants to do. And if you’re new to computers, finding and installing drivers can be especially confusing. First off, there are two types of computers printers ones that come with a disc (these are often less expensive) and ones that don’t come with discs at all (these cost more). But once you get past cost differences, it doesn’t matter which kind you buy either way you have to install your printer. In other words, all printers must be installed in order for them to work properly on your computer! So, how do you go about doing that? Well, here’s what you need to know:

The first thing you should do is locate your driver’s disk. If you bought a printer that came with a disk, look for it now. To do so, go directly to your printer manufacturer’s website (such as Canon or Epson) and search for drivers. These are also typically found in your computer’s control panel menu under devices. If you’re trying to install it on a Windows-based machine, choose Windows Update first (you can find it under Control Panel > System). That will give you access to updates that already exist on your system, and if any of those affect your printer driver, they’ll update right away.

Follow these steps:

Turn on your printer.
Connect one end of a USB cable into your printer, and plug the other end into an open USB port on your computer.
Open Control Panel (Windows 10) or Devices and Printers (Windows 10).
Click Add a Printer under Hardware and Sound (Windows 10) or Printers & Scanners (Windows 10).
Click Add a Local Printer (on either version), then click Next when prompted to search for drivers online or use those provided by Windows Update
Select Create a new port, then select Standard TCP/IP Port from the dropdown menu. Then enter IP address 192.168.0.1 and press the next button

Locate the folder where you saved the driver file
