The JBL Xtreme 4 presents itself as a portable Bluetooth speaker that boasts exceptional sound quality, extended battery life, and rugged durability. It is available in three different colours Black, Blue and Black Camo. To assist you in making an informed decision,

Here is a breakdown of its strengths and weaknesses:

Advantages:

1. The Xtreme 4 offers outstanding sound quality with two woofers, two tweeters, and dual bass radiators, delivering JBL’s renowned sound profile with clear highs, powerful mids, and deep bass, especially at higher volumes.

  1. With a claimed battery life of up to 24 hours on a single charge, this speaker is perfect for prolonged outings or parties without the worry of running out of power.
  2. Built to withstand the elements, the Xtreme 4 is waterproof and dustproof with an IP67 rating, featuring a rugged rubberized exterior that can endure beach trips, poolside use, or hikes.
  3. PartyBoost compatibility allows you to connect multiple JBL PartyBoost-compatible speakers to create a larger soundstage, ideal for larger gatherings or events.
  4. The inclusion of a power bank function with a built-in USB port enables you to charge your devices on the go, adding to its convenience.

Disadvantages:

1. The price of the Xtreme 4 may be considered relatively high compared to other portable speaker options in the market.

  1. Weighing around 5.3 pounds (2.4kg), the speaker may not be the lightest choice for some users despite its portability.
  2. Some reviewers have pointed out that the sound profile of the Xtreme 4 tends to lean towards being bass-heavy, which may not be suitable for all music genres or personal preferences.

Furthermore, when considering this speaker, it is essential to evaluate factors such as your specific needs and preferences.

Moreover, there are several other factors that you should take into consideration.

Firstly, if you require a speaker with a long-lasting battery life, the Xtreme 4 would be advantageous, especially if you use it for extended periods without access to a power source.

On the other hand, if your usage of speakers is typically for shorter durations, a more budget-friendly option may be suitable.

Secondly, if portability is crucial for you and you anticipate carrying the speaker frequently, you might want to consider a lighter model. Additionally, your preference for music genre plays a role in selecting the right speaker.

If you enjoy bass-heavy music, the Xtreme 4 could be a good match.

However, if you prefer a more balanced sound, exploring other options might be a better choice. Overall, the JBL Xtreme 4 is a durable and resilient portable speaker with exceptional sound quality and a long-lasting battery.

However, the price and weight could be potential dealbreakers for some individuals.

If you prioritize sound quality and battery life for outdoor activities or large gatherings, the Xtreme 4 is an excellent choice.

Please note that the JBL Xtreme 4 will not be available until June 2024, as it was announced at CES 2024 in January and the official release date is set for next month.

Currently, it is available for online ordering in Europe and the UK. Regarding the price, it can vary due to regional variations and potential fluctuations. However, I can inform you that the JBL Xtreme 4 is on the pricier side compared to other portable speakers. I recently purchased it online in the UK for £329.00.

The JBL Xtreme 4 is engineered to deliver powerful, high-quality audio in various environments, making it a great choice for both indoor and outdoor use.

The improvement from the Xtreme 3 is quite noticeable in JBL Xtreme 4. The bass and clarity are superior compared to the JBL Xtreme 3. Additionally, the new features in the app are impressive! The EQ presets are innovative, and the option to use a custom EQ to tailor the sound is a great addition. The build quality is excellent. It appears that JBL has addressed the volume curve issue, which was a concern of mine with previous JBL speakers as they tended to get too loud too fast. This new model has a more gradual progression and unlike my other JBL speakers, it maintains a nice and full sound even at low volumes.
