How To Write a Gibbs Reflective Cycle?-Self-Reflection
Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle is a reflection tool by Graham Gibbs in 1988. It offers a framework for examining experiences, it allows the author to learn and plan from things that either went well or didn’t go well. It covers 6 stages: Description, Feelings, Evaluation, Analysis, Conclusion, and Action plan.
Using Gibbs’s (Gibbs,1988) reflective cycle to help me identify my strengths, the areas I need development, and the actions I need to take to enhance my skills. Using Gibbs’s reflective cycle (Gibbs, 1988) as a working model to allow my feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, and action plan to be explored. For example, as a student studying AI and Data science, you need to start with –
Description: Being a first-year student in AI and Data science at the university, the author is very excited to get into this course. In 5 years, I would have finished my course with Distinction hopefully, gained loads of experience and skills, and excelled in my career.
Feelings: I have positive feelings about the course I am studying as I know there is a lot of potential with job prospects. My main focus is on excelling in all my courses and keeping working hard and burning midnight candles.
Evaluation: The course is progressing well; the author has learned so much in the first semester and gained new skills like Python and Java which I
had no prior knowledge of before now. I need to put more effort into managing my time and improving more programming skills.
Analysis: The skills I have learned so far are relevant to my course of study. The programming test we had showed that I needed to put in more work regarding Java. However, for the past few weeks, I have been doing some self-learning on Java programming, and it keeps getting better.
Conclusion: The author is confident I to be able to follow the school module, submit my coursework on time, and hope to achieve a distinction on my degree, so I can go out there and contribute to society at large.
Action Plan: I am enjoying the course contents and all about my chosen career path. I have made plans for how the coming semester will be for me, as I aim to do better than the previous semester. I plan to study harder than I did in the last semester.
